David Gilmour to release first new single in five years (Yes, I Have Ghosts) with Polly Samson audiobook release

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 13/06/2020 by Col T13/06/2020

David Gilmour has announced that he will be releasing his first new song in five years via the release of Polly Samson’s new audiobook, A Theatre for Dreamers.

I’m amazed if a collaborative words and music audiobook hasn’t been done before but am thrilled with how this has worked out. Sad for the actor who had to pull out but Polly Samson’s narration surprised us all and it’s been a great project for me during lockdown to also add some instrumental passages between chapters and to record the A Theatre for Dreamers inspired song, Yes, I Have Ghosts, with the help of our daughter, Romany.

To listen to Yes, I Have Ghosts, as well as the above mentioned instrumental tracks, you’ll need to pick up the A Theatre for Dreamers audiobook on June 25th.

The single will get a wider release a week later on July 2nd. Be sure to check back in with AFG to listen along and discuss with fellow Floyd fans on our community forum.

Enjoy, and remember to stay safe!

Pink Floyd Launch Evolving Playlist on Spotify and YouTube

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 28/05/2020 by Col T28/05/2020

Pink Floyd have launched a new playlist on Spotify and YouTube, with new tracks being added each day.

Syd, Roger, Richard, Nick and David

Titled “Syd, Roger, Richard, Nick and David” the playlist kicked off with Us & Them Live at the Empire Pool in Wembley 1974, from the Dark Side of the Moon Experience and Immersion sets. Since then a number of tracks have been added from the Floyd’s 60s output, along with Fearless from Meddle.

While more hardcore Floyd fans would have heard most of these tracks (and likely own multiple versions of them), it seems like a good spot for newcomers or returning fans to hop in.

Remember to check the playlist each day to see what new track has been added.

Watch Now: David Gilmour – Live At Pompeii (Full concert on YouTube for a week)

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 09/05/2020 by Col T09/05/2020

Pink Floyd’s final upload for the YouTube Film Festival, in the form of David Gilmour’s Live At Pompeii concert, is live now for the next week.

45 years after Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour filmed ‘Live At Pompeii’ in the legendary Roman Amphitheatre there, he returned for two spectacular shows in July 2016, part of the year-long tour in support of his No. 1 album Rattle That Lock. The performances were the first-ever rock concerts for an audience in the stone Roman amphitheatre, and, for two nights only, the 2,600-strong crowd stood exactly where gladiators would have fought in the first century AD.

This version is the full concert, spanning 2.5 hours and featuring 21 songs from David and Pink Floyd’s catalogues.

It will be available to stream on YouTube until the 17th of May.

Enjoy, and remember to stay safe and stay home as much as possible.
