The Later Years 1987-2019 box set delayed until December 13, 2019

Pink Floyd have announced  that The Later Years 1987-2019 box set has been pushed back from its original release date to the 13th of December, 2019.

Due to production and logistical delays, the deluxe, 18-disc box set of ‘Pink Floyd The Later Years’ and its digital equivalent will now be released on 13 December 2019. The highlights 2LP or 1CD package and their digital equivalents will keep the release date of 29 November 2019.

 

The box set covers the material created by David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright from 1987 onwards, and features over 13 hours of unreleased audio and audiovisual material, including the sought-after 1989 Venice and 1990 Knebworth concerts.

Luckily the delay is only a short one, and the Highlights release is still coming out on the 29th of November, 2019.

Today is the day, we finally get to hear a track from the new 2019 Remix of A Momentary Lapse of Reason. The main changes in the new 2019 mix are the drums and the keyboards, with new recordings from Nick Mason and archival tour recordings from Richard Wright.

While the premiere hasn’t gone live yet on YouTube, the song is available for streaming in certain regions, so make sure to check your preferred streaming service right now!

The site keeps crashing due to a multitude of errors and our server has to be constantly rebooted in order to keep the site alive.  I have called in an expert to help out and you should see a gradual improvement over the coming weeks. The memoirs of the late Bryan Morrison, early booking agent and manager of Pink Floyd, are out now on Amazon UK and the publisher’s official site.

When the music impresario Bryan Morrison died aged 66 in 2008, after two years
in a coma following a polo accident, he left behind his unpublished memoir. As a
music publisher, manager and agent, Morrison had represented the Pretty Things,
Pink Floyd, T. Rex, The Jam, Wham! and many others. He was also the founder and
owner of the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club.

 

In this candid and outspoken book, Morrison reveals the true stories behind why
Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd once bit his finger to the bone, the Pretty Things were
banned for life from New Zealand, and he became involved with the Kray Twins.
He also tells how The Jam kissed goodbye to success in the USA, he received death
threats when Robin Gibb left the Bee Gees, and signing a publishing deal with
George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley as Wham!

 

Spanning the golden age of British rock ’n’ roll from the 60s to the 80s, this is the
extraordinary story of a cigar-chomping, East End entrepreneur, with a passion for
art and design, fashion, music and polo.

At the end of September Richard Thompson hosted his 70th Birthday Celebration Concert at the Royal Albert Hall. The concert included a bevy of musical guests, including Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour. David performed on two songs, Dimming of the Day and Fat Old Sun, both of which you can watch below.

Across Amazon USA, UK and Italy, there have been price drops of up to 25% on the pre-order price!!

The Early Years disc replacement programme now open (EU only)

Following the release of The Early Years 1965-1972 box set in 2016, some keen Floyd fans noticed

issues with their discs and a replacement programme was enacted. Now, in 2019, fans are reporting similar issues, with Blu-ray discs bubbling and discolouring, in some cases leading to discs not playing.

The following has been emailed out to fans who have contacted Pink Floyd regarding this issue.

In 2016 our attention was drawn to a small batch of Blu-ray discs supplied for ‘The Early Years 1965-1972’, which had been subject to unreported transit damage, causing eventual discolouration and playing issues over time.

 

Now in 2019, we have been advised that a small quantity of the below discs have been affected:

We will be manufacturing replacement discs on a limited basis based on demand, so please contact us BEFORE JANUARY 01, 2020, in order that your request can be processed. This offer does not affect your statutory rights.

Roger Waters planning 2020 tour of North America and Mexico

Roger Waters, speaking to El Universal at The Venice Film Festival, confirmed that he plans to tour North America and Mexico in 2020.

In the interview, which followed the screening of the Us + Them concert film, Waters mentions Ciudad Juárez and Mexico City as possible tour stops. Waters also hopes for the Ciudad Juárez concert to be a free concert, similar to Zocalo on his 2016 tour.
