Nick Mason : Drummer Opens Up His Garden For Charities

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 04/05/2017 by Col T04/05/2017

THE gardens of Middlewick House in Corsham will be open to the public again this summer, raising money for the Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust and Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s Airbase Appeal.

The estate, which is now home to Nick Mason of Pink Floyd fame and his wife, actress Annette Lynton Mason, was formerly owned by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall.

The proceeds from the open gardens will be split between the two local charities. This will be the fourth year running that the couple have welcomed people in to raise money for charity.

Nick Mason said: “Annette and I are really looking forward to opening our garden again – it’s a really great way of supporting two of our favourite and enormously worthy local charities. Our visitors seem to enjoy the experience and it gives us a really good excuse to tidy the garden and polish the odd car!”

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the beautiful gardens, as well as the chance to see the collection of wild animals. One of Bath’s leading fine art sculptors, Alan Dunn, will be showcasing some of his pieces and there will be a variety of stalls selling unique gifts and plants.

Cakes will be available along with other refreshments and a barbecue.

Jennie Shaw, director of The Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust, said: “This will be the fourth year Mr and Mrs Mason have supported local charities, they have raised over £60,000. It’s a super weekend which thousands of people have attended. I do hope you can join us.”

Cheryl Johnson, head of Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s Airbase Appeal, said: “We are so grateful to Nick and Annette Mason. Our Airbase Appeal is raising the remaining £1.25 million needed to complete the building and equipping of our new airbase at Semington, near Melksham. Funds raised at the open gardens event will enable us to save lives for many more years to come, operating from our custom-built new airbase.”

The event on June 10-11 runs from 11am-4.30pm. Entry will cost £7 and the event is free to children under 12.

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 03/05/2017 by Col T02/12/2019
Syd Barrett SHOT! The Psycho-Spiritual Mantra of Rock. Mick Rock about Syd Barrett

SHOT! The Mick Rock Documentary is an odyssey into the colorful and crazy recesses of rock ‘n’ roll’s history. A reckless joyride that delves deep into the mind of rock’s greatest living photographer: Mick Rock.

Told through the distorted lens of rock ‘n’ roll mythology, icon-maker, psychedelic explorer, shambolic poet and custodian of dreams, Mick Rock navigates his story from the glam rock shimmer of London to the snarl of NYC punk, and deep into the new millennium. Awaiting heart surgery after after a series of heart attacks, Mick turns inward to face himself – his past, the present and the future that will be born from the ashes of his resurrection. He stretched his nervous system to the limit to bring us the iconic images of the likes of David Bowie, Syd Barrett, Blondie, Queen, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop. He shot them all and imprinted them on our collective psyche forever.

We have managed to find some new information regarding the upcoming release of David Gilmour : Live at Pompeii from a blog article written by Italian Journalist Francesco Prisco .

“So the fact is: The DVD / Blu-ray filming David Gilmour’s gesture in the two return concerts on Pompeii will be released early next November . Until now, the only official news circulated about the product concerns the installation of an hour in 4k by Gavin Elder’s signature of the English company DCD Rights. This is a two-day event that the Cambridge guitarist on the 7th and 8th of July 2016 held in the Vesuvius amphitheater 45 years away from the Rockumentary realized with Pink Floyd and directed by Adrian Maben. Negotiations are under way for the sale of television rights to the work – here in Italy could end up on Sky Arts – but the idea of production is to sell Dvd and Blu ray by David Gilmour: Live at Pompeii, Beginning of November.
