It’s that time again where nothing is better than a big outdoor concert in the summertime !
This is one show that floydpodcast founder Matt wishes he had been to because its got such a cool vibe.
Live from Rotterdam, Netherlands, Stadion Feijenoord, affectionately called De Kuip, 4. September, 1994 !
The band sounds great and everyone is having a good time. The sound quality is excellent to begin with but it had some flaws that needed to be addressed.
Its now all fixed up and doctored!
You can view the playlist but you really don’t need it. Interestingly, the band played only three songs from The Division Bell.
Sadly, the opening of The Pink Floyd Exhibition: Their Mortal Remains at the Vogue Multicultural Museum in Los Angeles has been unavoidably delayed due to issues with global freight.
It was due to open on August 3rd, but is now opening on September 3rd, and running until January 9th, 2022. The many containers filled with Pink Floyd’s artefacts, stage sets, and private collections were shipped from the UK with an extensive lead time but coming out of the pandemic, there are many delays in global freight. These containers have now safely arrived in LA.
Existing ticket holders for August will be notified via email about how to reschedule their dates at no additional cost.
Ticket holders may contact the museum at email@example.com with questions about the ticket exchange process.
The Exhibition teams would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding.
Tickets are on sale for the Exhibition at www.vmmla.com, where you will also find more information about the event.
Just announced is a brand new book covering the most intriguing stories of creative endeavor, volatile relationships, excessive lifestyles, and bizarre events from the world of rock, as told by Hipgnosis cofounder, creative designer, photographer, and filmmaker Aubrey Powell.
Hipgnosis founded in 1967 by Aubrey “Po” Powell, Storm Thorgerson, and Peter Christopherson, graphic design firm Hipgnosis gained legendary status by transforming the look of album art through their designs for AC/DC, Black Sabbath, the Police, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, Syd Barrett, and the Who. In this brand new lively volume, Powell presents brutally honest, entertaining, and revealing insider stories from the world of rock, featuring an eclectic cast of pop stars, comedians, actors, managers, gangsters, and inspirational world gures from 1966 on. His thrilling narrative is packed with anecdotes—from the founding of Hipgnosis to surviving drugs busts—and is richly illustrated with Hipgnosis artwork and Powell’s own photographs.
Drama and creativity are the common threads throughout this unique account. With candor and insightful reflection, Powell reveals how the final color artwork for Led Zeppelin’s Houses of the Holy was created; how the most iconic album cover of all time—Dark Side of the Moon—came about; and how the 2017 Pink Floyd retrospective became the most successful music exhibition ever mounted by the Victoria and Albert Museum, despite the deeply antagonistic and dysfunctional relationship between Roger Waters and David Gilmour. Throughout, Powell exposes how the trappings of fame and glory upset the balance of everyday life, bringing creativity and destruction in equal measure.
Packed with exciting insider stories and anecdotes featuring famous musicians, managers, and actors, Through the Prism is a must-have for music and pop-culture fans.
A multitrack masterpiece. Mixed for 5.1 surround sound and stereo from the original analog master tapes by Pink Floyd Producer/Engineer James Guthrie
Another classic Pink Floyd title receives the multichannel reissue treatment and Acoustic Sounds and Analogue Productions is once again been chosen to handle exclusive distribution of this monumental SACD. How lucky we all are to hear this legendary studio recording realize its full potential. The SACD also of course includes a stunning stereo mix. And as this is a hybrid disc, the album is of course also playable on a standard CD player.
This is Pink Floyd at its collective finest, with everyone contributing. David Gilmour took a huge chunk of the music — writing, laying down the chord progressions on “Breathe,” “Time,” and “Any Colour You Like,” plus the singing on the album’s best songs, Water conceeding to David’s far superior voice. Gilmour also pumped out what would later be hailed as some of rock’s most influential lead-guitar riffs on “Money” and “Brain Damage.”
By all industry standards, The Dark Side Of The Moon is a phenomenon. Known for its complex instrumental textures, the album firmly established Pink Floyd as one of the most innovative bands in rock history. A concept album, its themes explore conflict, greed, time, and mental illness, the latter partly inspired by the deteriorating health of founding member Syd Barrett, who left in 1968.
The Dark Side of the Moon produced two singles: “Money” and “Us and Them.” The album topped the Billboard chart for a week, and remained on the chart for 741 weeks from 1973 to 1988. Following a change in how Billboard counts sales in 2009, it re-entered the chart and has since appeared for over 900 weeks. With estimated sales of more than 45 million, it is Pink Floyd’s bestselling album and one of the bestselling worldwide.
