David Gilmour Recording Teenage Cancer Trust Project At Mark Knopflers Studio

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 26/02/2023 by Col T27/02/2023

Polly Samson recently shared the news on her social media platforms that David Gilmour has been recording new music at Mark Knopfler’s (formerly of Dire Straits) British Grove Studios in London.

Further details came to light when longtime Mark Knopfler engineer and producer Guy Fletcher, also a former Dire Straits keyboard player, shared on his Instagram platform, “I recorded David yesterday for the TCT project. It was great to see him and Polly. (And their dogs!)”

TCT stands for Teenage Cancer Trust, and it appears that there is a new collaboration between the charity and David Gilmour in the pipeline. David has been involved with this charity for many years, with the most recent being a show at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 2016 as part of the Rattle That Lock tour, in which all proceeds from the show were donated directly to the charity.

Polly Samson David Gilmour’s wife and longtime writing partner recently shared a few photos from the session on her Instagram page. After the original black strat was auctioned off for $4 million with proceeds going to ClientEarth in 2019, David was spotted with one of his Fender Custom Shop signature black stratocasters and the now-iconic Jimi Hendrix guitar strap.
