David Gilmour : Live In Gdansk Available In 360 Sony Reality Audio

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 06/01/2022 by Col T06/01/2022
David Gilmour - Speak To Me (360 Reality Audio / Official Audio)

Further adding to the previous release of all Pink Floyd releases from the departure of Roger Waters in 360 Reality Audio. Fans of David Gilmour’s solo work can now celebrate that the guitarist is offering his 2008 ‘Live In Gdansk” album in a brand new 360 Sony Reality Audio mix.

Gilmour, after recently releasing several live shows and his albums ‘Rattle That Lock‘, ‘On An Island‘, ‘David Gilmour‘ and ‘About Face‘, late last year for the first time in High Resolution quality via HDtracks, now returns to share his live work, ‘ Live In Gdansk ‘ but the novelty is that he does so in this time in a 360º Reality Audio version.

Live In Gdansk is a recording of the final show of his On an Island Tour in 2006, where he played to an audience of 50,000 at the Gdańsk Shipyard to celebrate the founding of the Solidarity trade union. The show featured the song “A Great Day for Freedom“, from the Pink Floyd album The Division Bell (1994) and was the only show of the tour to feature it. It was last performed by Gilmour during his semi-acoustic shows in 2002.

Gilmour played the entire On an Island album during this concert.

It’s the final Pink Floyd-related recording to feature Richard Wright, who died on 15 September 2008, one week before the album’s official release. Also notably, this concert took place approximately one month following the death of Syd Barrett. Gilmour and his band were backed by the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Zbigniew Preisner. Leszek Możdżer was featured on piano as a special guest.

What is 360º Reality Audio

360 Reality Audio is the surround sound created by Sony to create a sensation to the listener that he is listening to a band in front of him, with sound stimuli that come from different points and perspectives, intensities … In addition to Sony, they are beginning to other labels such as Universal and Warner offer this sound experience. They define it as “360 degree music listening experience”.

The listener feels as if they are in the recording studio or at a live concert. To enhance the experience, it is recommended to use good headphones.

Celebrating The Late Syd Barrett’s 75th Birthday

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 06/01/2022 by Col T06/01/2022
Pink Floyd Apples and Oranges on American Bandstand 1967 (Colorised)

Today we celebrate the legacy of Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett on what would have been his 75th birthday.

He was the principal songwriter behind the band’s debut – 1967 masterpiece The Piper at the Gates of Dawn – and a handful of strong early singles that helped define the psychedelic age. His creative genius was derailed by a drug-fueled psychological collapse, forcing his 1968 removal from the group he helped form. Though Barrett helmed Pink Floyd for barely two years out of their three-decade career, his specter haunted the band for the remainder of their existence and his presence is felt in some of their finest work.

By the end of his life, he had reverted to his birth name, Roger, and settled into his role as an amateur painter and local eccentric in his native Cambridge, England. Syd Barrett, the rock icon, died long before pancreatic cancer claimed his physical body on July 7th, 2006.

To celebrate his birthday YouTube creator Artist on the Border has very professionally restored for the first time in color Pink Floyd’s Apples and Oranges Performance at the American Bandstand show. Recorded at the ABC Studios, Burbank, California on November 7th 1967
