Pink Floyd, Nick Mason & Roger Waters Feature In UK’s Prog Magazine – Issue Number 88 – Available In Stores Now !!

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 14/06/2018 by Col T16/06/2018
Hot off the shelves todays is this months new issue of the UK’s Prog Magazine – Issue Number 88 this months issue has a strong focus around Pink Floyd’s 1983 album The Final Cut which was the last Pink Floyd record to feature Roger Waters.

The Cover piece advertises the main article which is about the making of The Final Cut and how the album shaped the future for both Floyd and Roger Waters ever since. The feature is very detailed and gives a brand new fresh look at the project, and also includes archive interview material with Roger, David Gilmour, keyboard player Andy Bown, engineer Andy Jackson, and photographer Willie Christie, in which hes discusses developing the idea for the very short The Final Cut Film .

Futher on from the main article there is also an exclusive feature with Roger in which he discusses his current Us & Them Tour, Plans for filming the shows, and other things he is working on.

Further in the magazine is a page and a half looking at Nick Mason’s new Saucerful Of Secrets project, including an in depth full page review of the recent Dingwalls concert, which marked the band’s first ever live performance.

According to former Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters when asked if he was working on anything Pink Floyd related, Water’s replied: “Yeah. I’ve just been working with Po. There’s a re-issue of Animals. A 5.1 mix of Animals so I’ve been working… Well I haven’t been working, he’s been working. He came up with some new photographs of Battersea Power Station as it is now to use as a CD cover for the new 5.1 mix. It’s beautiful.”

Pink Floyd released Immersion box sets of two of their biggest albums in 2011- Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here and The Wall, which followed in 2012. And a 20th Anniversary Deluxe Box Set of The Division Bell was released in 2014. But Animals has never been accorded such an honour.

As yet, there is no official word from the band’s record label, who have recently been reissuing the band’s catalogue on new 180g vinyl – most recently Relics and Pulse. And it is not known if the proposed release would form part of a bigger set – CD does not support 5.1 so it would have to be released on Blu-ray. However judging by Waters’ comments, watch this space…

Nick Mason : Announces 3LP + CD Boxset Entitled – Unattended Luggage

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 12/06/2018 by Col T13/06/2018

Released on August 31st, 2018 is ‘Unattended Luggage‘, a three album CD or vinyl box set of my albums ‘Nick Mason’s Fictitious Sports‘, ‘Profiles‘ and ‘White of the Eye‘.

These limited edition box sets will be available shortly before our acclaimed new band Saucerful Of Secrets begin their European tour at Cirkus in Stockholm on September 2nd.

“‘Profiles‘ and ‘White of the Eye‘ were an extension of working with Rick Fenn on some advertising and short documentary film soundtracks, which then developed into something more.

“Listening back after 30 odd years, I’m delighted they are getting the reissue treatment. I’m rather hoping that sales will be sufficient to damage the market in the original rare vinyl versions!” – Nick Mason

The three individual albums will all be available as a download and through streaming platforms.

The box sets can be ordered online by clicking here

MG Studios
recently let slip that Roger Waters had been laying down some piano in their studio.

We did a bit of detective work and found out that Roger has indeed been working with Audio Engineer and Producer & multiple Latin Grammy award winner Mike Miglin.

Whilst we cannot confirm what the intention of the session is for we can only hope this the start of the follow up to the very sucessfull Is This The Life We Really Want? album which was released in June 2017.

The Pretty Things “Final Bow” Concert Features Special Guest David Gilmour.

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 27/05/2018 by Col T27/05/2018

After 55 years of live performing, The Pretty Things – the iconic, 1st wave, R&B cult heroes, formed by Ex Rolling Stone Dick Taylor, and singer, Phil May – will retire from electric performances at the end of this year.

Serial under-achievers, and the greatest band you never heard of, The Pretty Things have been a massive critical success and a huge influence on artists as diverse as David Bowie, Aerosmith, The Ramones, Bob Dylan, The Sex Pistols, The White Stripes, Kasabian and many, many more – who site their outrageous behaviour, incandescent stage performances and astonishing catalogue of remarkable, ground-breaking recordings as fundamental in the creation of their own work.

With a huge history of musical and cultural “firsts” at their core – the “longest hair in the world”, first ever rock and roll drugs bust, most arrests of any band, first ever “garage” single, first ever rock-opera, first U.K. band to win Rolling Stone Record of the Year, arrested for discharging a sawn off shotgun, first band to regain full control of its entire recorded catalogue and on and on… – The Pretty Things are an indelible part of the fabric of popular music and the social influence that it has created.

Still creating significant front-line records today and with such influential work as their ground-breaking masterpiece and world’s first rock opera – S. F. Sorrow – which celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year, in their back catalogue, they remain a hugely significant artistic and creative force. With no other first-wave artist but The Stones, outselling their frontline recordings today and probably no artist at all out-performing them live.

It should be compulsory for anyone with the slightest interest in popular music and the youth and social revolution of the 1960’s to see The Pretty Things before they hang up their guns at the end of this year. Their farewell show in London will feature guest appearances from significant old friends David Gilmour, Van Morrison and Bill Nighy and some new young gunslingers to make sure they go out like they came in – with all guns blazing and taking no prisoners.

They play their final performance at Indigo at The O2 on 13 December 2018. Tickets on sale now from AXS by Clicking Here
