I must say it was both a shock and a pleasure to receive an email out of the blue from Liam Creedon, inviting me to contribute some more memoirs to A Fleeting Glimpse.

So much has happened since Albert Magoolie Remembers was first published way back in August 2004 (thanks to the legendary Colin Turner.) that my brain went into inter-story-teller overdrive thinking about how to get it all sorted out and put into words.

I knew this would mean trawling through mountains of emails to get dates and times right, but at the same time I felt it would make for a remarkable trip down memory lane.

I’ve had the chance to contact and even meet some pretty famous people, managed to upset some rockstars (other than, but also including Roger Waters. Yes. Again!), written some songs, a novel, and received a letter from the Queen.

Sadly there are a couple of chapters which will be extremely difficult to revisit, with one chapter inparticular including a painful confession I always knew I would have to make some day.

Given that the abovementioned difficult chapters occurred soon after Albert Magoolie Remembers was published, I have decided not to start with them.

Let’s face it, we’ve all endured the most miserable, crazy, stupid and frustrating couple of years with COVID, who wants more sad stories? The last thing I want to do is begin Albert Magoolie Remembers More on a bum note.

So instead the story I’ve decided to kick things off with is the one that answers the question why my email address on the last page of Albert Magoolie Remembers is
albertmooglie@gmail.com

Question? What question? What are you on about, Magoolie? Well, that’s just it…

Did anybody notice? Albert MOOG-LIE, not Albert MAGOO-LIE.

The reason for the change of surname is very much Pink Floyd-related, and dates back to August 2017.

Whether you had noticed or not, (or care) here’s the story:
