David Gilmour featuring Romany Gilmour ‘Between Two Points’ (Gus alt-J Remix)

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 18/10/2024 by Tony R22/10/2024

This week, David Gilmour wrapped up a highly praised six-night sold-out run at London’s Royal Albert Hall, following a similar successful run at Circus Maximus in Rome, promoting his UK #1 album, ‘Luck and Strange.’ The band are now off to Los Angeles for a concert at the Intuit Dome next Friday, followed by three nights at the legendary Hollywood Bowl and a five night run at the renowned Madison Square Garden in New York City, visit our Luck and Strange 2024 Tour Room for dates and ticket links.

A standout moment of the Rome and London performances have been ‘Between Two Points,’ a stunning reinterpretation of The Montgolfier Brothers’ 1999 track, featuring Romany Gilmour on lead vocals and harp. The song has been remixed by Gus Unger-Hamilton of alt-J, infusing it with a captivating electro vibe centered around the refrain, ‘They’re right, you’re wrong.’ It’s quite an interesting remix, and you can listen here:

Pink Floyd Sells Music Catalog and Name and Likeness to Sony for $400 Million

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 04/10/2024 by Tony R04/10/2024

Tuesday, Oct 1st, it was reported by UK’s Financial Times that Pink Floyd have sold their music catalog, along with their name and likeness to Sony for approximately $400 million. People Magazine Online reported that sources close to the matter told the outlet that ownership of the band’s likeness means the purchaser would profit from the sale of merchandise as well as other entities that could come along, such as television spin-offs and films.

Pink Floyd’s deal did come with stipulations, only their recorded rights were included, not any for the band’s songwriting. Before this week’s deal with Sony, the band tried for at least two years to sell their catalog, and had reportedly been in talks to do so with major companies such as Warner Music, BMG and Hipgnosis. The sale is one of the largest of many in recent years. We will keep you informed about any developments related to this topic, including upcoming catalog releases and new projects.
