Guy Pratt – Inglorious Bassterd Hits Switzerland

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 16/10/2017 by Col T16/10/2017

Hot off the press since his 2 week residency at Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival , and further shows in London, Guy is back with a one off performance in Switzerland this October.

Guy Pratt has been a crucial member of the rhythm section of megastars such as Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Robert Palmer, Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry, Jimmy Page, David Coverdale, Womack & Womack, and The Smiths.

And when he’s not been parading his talents live on the stages of every stadium, concert hall and festival around the world, he has been a favourite studio bassist and accompanying singer for the biggest recording artists including Switzerland’s Florian Ast, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Iggy Pop,The Pretenders, Echo and The Bunnymen and McFly.

His one man show is all about life at the pointy end of the music business; Guy regales audiences with stories from behind the scenes. His self-deprecating wit is irresistible and his rip-roaring anecdotes are brilliant and outrageous.

This is an evening which is both funny and frank with enough insider’s references to satisfy even aficionados – and he’ll be bringing his beloved vintage Fender bass to demonstrate his craft.

This one off Extravaganza is taking place on the 30th October at 20:00 UTC+01 at the Theater Fauteuil Und Tabourettli, Spalenberg 12, 4051 Basel, Switzerland

Tickets are on sale now for this exclusive one-off show, which is the first International Comedy Club presentation at Theater Fauteuil in Basel, in English.

You can order your tickets online for this exclusive performance by clicking here.

Pink Floyd : In Nederland (New Book To Published)

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 02/10/2017 by Col T02/10/2017

PINK FLOYD IN NETHERLAND is the story of fifty years Pink Floyd in the low countries. From first performances in parishes and popstamps such as Paradiso and Fantasio to concerts in renowned concert halls such as De Doelen and the Concertgebouw and not to mention the big breakthrough as the closing of the festival in the Kralingse Bos in 1970.

Charles Beterams unveils the great share of our country in the development of Pink Floyd. In chronological terms, featuring unique and unprecedented photos, remarkable facts and special eye-witness reports of direct involvement, PINK FLOYD IN NETHERLANDS tells the full story of the legendary English pop group from a unique Dutch perspective.

How could it be that a hallowner in Apeldoorn, in the midst of a Pink Floyd concert, started the hall lighting in 1968, and even the police appeared to be moving? What happens before the forgotten Paradiso concert in 1969? Does Syd Barrett not show up for the concert during VPRO’s Piknik in 1970? Who are the special guests in the break of The Wall Live of Roger Waters in Arnhem on April 8, 2011?

The fact that the Netherlands is important for the band in the early years and is evident from the many concerts that are found in the box set The Early Years 1967-1972. In addition to the VPRO recorded concerts in Amsterdam, there have been gigs in places like Heesch, Vlissingen, Bussum, Terneuzen, Groningen, Weesp, Maastricht and Nijmegen. After the great breakthrough of the 1970s, Pink Floyd was seen sporadically in the Netherlands, as during the tour of Animals in 1977. There were also sold out concerts in De Kuip and Nijmeegse Goffertpark after the comeback in the late 1980s. In recent years, David Gilmour and Roger Waters are regularly seen in our country.

If you order Pink Floyd in the Netherlands via permafrostpublishers.com, you will also receive an exclusive Netherlands Concert Calendar for free.

In addition to the presentation of the book, there’s to be a musical theatre documentary on fifty years of Pink Floyd in The Netherlands, being held in places where Pink Floyd played the past fifty years, with live music from The Use Of Ashes, rare images and stories from the book. For more information, see the events on the dedicated Facebook page. The book will be officially presented during the Mega Record & CD Fair in Utrecht on November 11th, 2017.

David Gilmour – Simon Mayo Interview On BBC Radio 2

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 02/10/2017 by Col T02/10/2017

Tomorrow (02/10/17) afternoon’s Simon Mayo Drivetime programme on BBC Radio 2 (in the UK), from 5.05pm BST,Pink Floyd legend David Gilmour chats to Simon about his new concert DVD ‘Live At Pompeii’, which was the first show to be performed in front of a live audience since the gladiators in 79AD!

David first performed there in 1971 for Adrian Maben’s legendary concert film, Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii. In Roman times the Pompeii amphitheatre was known as a “Spectaculum” and David worked with longtime collaborator, and maestro of colour and light, Marc Brickman to bring the spectacle back to the Spectaculum.

The film includes songs from throughout David’s career including the title tracks of his two most recent No. 1 solo albums: Rattle That Lock and On An Island. Also included are other solo and Pink Floyd classics such as “Wish You Were Here,” “Comfortably Numb” and “One Of These Days,” the only song that was also performed by the band in 1971. Both concerts also saw extraordinary performances of “The Great Gig In The Sky” from “The Dark Side Of The Moon,” which David rarely plays as a solo artist.

The concert performance film, David Gilmour Live at Pompeii, was shot in 4k by director Gavin Elder and includes highlights from both shows. The concert is a spectacular audio-visual experience, featuring the famous huge circular cyclorama screen as well as lasers, pyrotechnics and stellar performances from an all-star band.
