Pink Floyd Release ‘Dark Side’ Tour Recordings From 1973

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 11/12/2023 by Tony R11/12/2023

Since 2021 Pink Floyd have dropped a dozen or so recordings on Spotify and Apple Music towards the end of the year without any official announcement. To keep with tradition, this year they have dropped 18 more live recordings from 1973 showcasing the band playing The Dark Side Of The Moon on the road from March to November of 1973. Since these are sourced from bootlegs the sound quality varies but performance wise they showcase how amazing the band were on stage together during this period. From extending some of the pieces and getting really funky and experimental these are a great document of the history of the band’s live performances. We highly recommend you give these a listen! Now Available: Pro-Ject Audio Systems DSOTM Turntable

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 29/11/2023 by Tony R29/11/2023

Pro-Ject Audio Systems who specializes in Hi-Fi electronics and turntables unveiled their new The Dark Side Of The Moon style turntable a few months back, and they are now shipping. They are handmade in Europe and are gorgeous works of art, if you consider yourself a hi-fi audio aficionado then we highly recommend you snag one! Read on for the details and ordering info..

From Pro-Ject Audio..

IT‘S NOT ALL DARK

For us, it was very clear: We need to create a turntable out of this artwork, which reproduces the dynamic and colours of the original album.

The result is an extraordinary turntable, which has never been there before. We were able to keep the core aspects of the artwork design and combined it with high quality materials. The plinth is made of MDF which offers the perfect base. The stainless steel axle of the heavy aluminium sub platter sits in a bronze bushing. The flat silicon belt builds the connection to the AC motor, which ensures stable speeds.

What you need to know

  • Prism plinth design made of 28mm MDF
  • 8,6” acrylic tonearm with spring antiskating
  • Dimable LED rainbow backlight
  • Speed switch follows the special design
  • Precision belt drive with electronic speed control
  • Semi-symmetrical phono cable included
  • Gold plated RCA connectors
  • 10 mm heavy glass platter
  • Precision aluminium sub platter

Unique acrylic tonearm design

The low resonance tonearm is a complete new design and definitely one of the highlights of this turntable. Its combination of black aluminium parts and acrylic results in an absolute eye-catcher. The supplied Pick it PRO Special Edition is tuned to fit the whole concept and delivers the rich sound you would expect for a Dark Side Of The Moon turntable.

Paired with the LED backlit rainbow, the turntable looks even more impressive while listening to your favourite records in the dark.

DESIGNED & HANDMADE IN EUROPE

The new “The Dark Side Of The Moon” turntable is carefully designed and
handmade in Europe. Due to the design & superior materials our turntables are built for eternity.

With high-quality components, but also well-thought-out design, we want to be a pioneer in the industry.

FloydPodcast – The Man And The Journey

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 25/11/2023 by Tony R25/11/2023

The Doc is back this month with a new podcast! Featuring Pink Floyd’s conceptual piece “The Man And The Journey” taken from The Early Years boxset (1969 Dramatiz/ation set).

Here’s the latest and this time, a revisit… a spotlight on Pink Floyd’s first conceptual piece, The Man And The Journey. It was a pivotal time for Pink Floyd and you can clearly hear the direction they’re starting to go down, so I figured I’d dust this recording off a little.

Someone released this one into the wild back in the late 90’s, but it wasn’t officially released until 2016. From the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, 17. September 1969.
