Bjorn Riis Of Gilmourish channels Pink Floyd on new video for Dark Shadows Ft Durga Mcbroom

Dark Shadows (part 1) by Bjørn Riis, featuring Durga McBroom (Official Music Video)

Airbag guitarist Bjorn Riis who is the owner of the fantastic David Gilmour guitar gear archive ‘Gilmourish‘ deliberately channels his passion for Pink Floyd in his brand new video for Dark Shadows (Part 1).

It’s taken from an upcoming mini-album, A Fleeting Glimpse, which will be released through Karisma Records on September 30, which is deliberately inspired by Riis’s passion for David Gilmour and Pink Floyd, an idea Riis suggested to his label as they were preparing to release his fourth solo album Everything To Everyone earlier this year.

“I really tries to get as close to the Pink Floyd sound, without actually copying or simply  doing covers,” the guitarist explains.

Riis has hooked up with Pink Floyd backing singer from the 80s and 90s, Durga McBroom for Dark Shadows (Part 1), while. the video has been edited by photographer and Prog writer Anne-Marie Forker.

“Dark Shadows (Part 1) was originally written for Everything To Everyone,” adds Riis. “I always liked the mood of this song so for this project, I did some changes to the arrangements and wrote the lyrics. I’m very pleased with how it turned out because it is a powerful blend of both me and my sound and some familiar Floydian moods.

“It was such a thrill for me to work with Durga McBroom and have her beautiful voice on one of my songs. I grew up with that voice! She delivered a truly stunning performance.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed working on this project. I think the song has a unique sound, and I’m honored to have been asked to sing on it,” McBroom adds.

A Fleeting Glimpse was recorded at the Double Decker Studios, Oslo and the Riis Studio, Oslo. It was mixed at Subsonic Studio by long-time collaborator Vegard Kleftås Sleipnes, and was mastered by Jacob Holm-Lupo (White Willow, Donner).

Aside from Riis on vocals, guitars, bass and keyboards, and  guest vocals from McBroom, the mini-album also features appearances from Arild and Øyvind Brøter from Pymlico, Per Øydir and Mimmi Tamba.

Pink Floyd Release Video For New Version Of A Great Day For Freedom

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 23/07/2022 by Col T23/07/2022
Pink Floyd - A Great Day For Freedom 2022

As part of the latest promotion campaign to support Pink Floyd’s “Hey Hey Rise Up“, a new song that has been written and curated to show support to those affected by the current situation in Ukraine.

A video for the B-side single, “A Great Day For Freedom,” has just premiered online in which it features a new version of the 1994 song that was originally featured on the critically acclaimed Division Bell album.

Talking about the inspiration for the ‘Hey Hey Rise Up’ release Gilmour commented, “Any war, but particularly a war that is started by a world superpower against an independent democratic nation, has got to raise enormous anger and frustration in one. As I said before, I have a small connection there; my daughter-in-law is from Ukraine. And the band Boombox are Ukrainian people that I already knew, not well, but from some time ago. It’s an enormously difficult, frustrating, and anger-making thing that one human being could have the power to go into another independent democratic nation and set about killing the population. It’s just obscene to an extent that is just beyond my belief.”

Snowy White New Album ‘Driving On The 44’ Released Today

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 22/07/2022 by Col T22/07/2022

‘Driving on the 44‘ is the latest release by Snowy White the former Thin Lizzy guitarist who is closely associated with Pink Floyd. From 1977’s “In The Flesh” and 1980-81’s “The Wall” tours, and later as a member of Roger Waters’ touring band from the 1990s’ “The Wall Live In Berlin” to 2016’s “Desert Trip,”

‘Driving on the 44‘ Released today July 22nd, 2022, is the first album in 3 years from Snowy White, known for his very own ‘English‘ blues style, which is characterized by clear, no-frills blues phrases, which he refines with harder riffs. The songs come across as very direct, human, and authentic—as if he wanted to address every listener personally. Few master this art as well as the British guitarist and singer.
