Jon Carin : Shares Photos Of Equipment Used In Rogers Lockdown Sessions

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 30/04/2021 by Col T30/04/2021

As many of our visitors will know since the Global Covid -19 pandemic hit the nation worldwide in March 2019 forcing Roger Waters to postpone his “This Is Not A Drill” Tour.

The touring band featuring longtime Pink Floyd touring musician Jon Carin, Dave Kilminster, Jonathan Wilson, Joey Waronker, Gus Seyffert, Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe from the band Lucius, Bo Koster and Ian Ritchie have come together remotely to record various versions from Rogers long lasting career.

The last performance posted online features the song “The Bravery Of Being Out Of Range” which features on the critically acclaimed 1992 Roger Waters album “Amused To Death“.

A firm favourite amongst the fans, the latest performance is complimented by a new arrangement which features a brand new verse, The arrangement in itself gives the song more space and dynamics as well as making the lyrical content more prominent.

Jon Carin a dear friend of A Fleeting Glimpse has been incredibly busy over this last 13 Months, Releasing solo material over various platforms including one of AFG’s personal favourites “Fear Of Everything” which we urge all visitors to check out by clicking the song title or alternatively by Clicking Here

Very kindly Jon has given us permission to share images of himself and the equipment he has used on the latest online performance to give a little bit of an insight into what instrumentation goes into these performances.

In Jons own words “The list is…1959 Kay Jumbo acoustic, ARP 2600 ( middle solo ), Moog Matriarch ( middle & end synth melody solo ),  ARP Omni ll, Red Wurlitzer Piano, Fender Rhodes Piano ( Through a Leslie 147 ), Prophet 10, Electric harmonium, Bass synths”

Los Angeles, CA – Pink Floyd’s 1975 album, Wish You Were Here, surely counts as one of the greatest rock albums of the 20th century. A musically and emotionally complex tribute to the band’s former leader, vocalist Syd Barrett, whose deteriorating mental health had caused the band to oust him in 1968, the album has become a touchstone for a generation of artists who sought to achieve the synthesis of brilliant, multi-part suites, poignant ballads, and heady melodic rockers that Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright, & Nick Mason realized on this album.

And now, a stunning all-star line-up of rock and metal royalty have gathered to recreate this epic masterpiece as a testament to its long-enduring legacy. Still Wish You Were Here includes awe-inspiring performances from keyboard wizard Rick Wakeman, Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice, Rock Hall of Fame nominee Todd Rundgren, ex-Queensrÿche vocalist Geoff Tate, guitar god Joe Satriani, Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie, spacebass super genius Bootsy Collins, The Damned’s Rat Scabies, PiL’s Jah Wobble and lots more! Pink Floyd Live At Knebworth 1990 Released Today

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 30/04/2021 by Col T01/05/2021

When Pink Floyd took the stage at Knebworth House in Hertfordshire, England, on June 30, 1990, they had already mounted a hugely successful tour for their then-recent album, 1987’s A Momentary Lapse of Reason.

At the time, the tour was significant as it was the first one without Floyd’s founding bassist, co-singer and chief lyricist Roger Waters, who departed from the group in 1985. But any doubt of whether the rest of the band – guitarist David Gilmour, drummer Nick Mason and keyboardist Richard Wright—could carry on without Waters was immediately squashed when Momentary peaked at number 3 on the Billboard charts, followed by a tour that lasted two years.

Pink Floyd‘s headlining appearance in front of 120,000 people at the star-studded Silver Clef Award Winners Knebworth show— which raised funds for the Nordoff Robbins charity—occurred on a day that also included performances by Paul McCartney; Dire Straits; Phil Collins; Tears for Fears; Robert Plant with Jimmy Page; Eric Clapton; and Cliff Richard. First released in 2019 as part of The Later Years boxed set, Pink Floyd’s entire set from that event, Live at Knebworth 1990, will finally be available as a standalone set (CD, double vinyl, digital) from Today

“There is something special about Knebworth,” recalled Mason of that event, according to a press statement announcing the release.“We all still have fond memories of playing there in the ‘70’s, and this show was no different. As a North London boy this was almost a home game, but with the added delight of being the re-assembly of the band after a fairly mega tour that had lasted for well over a year. It was also an opportunity to get the wonderful Candy Dulfer to play—I had been a fan of hers for quite a while, and it was just a shame we didn’t have an opportunity to utilise her for more. We also had our dear friend Michael Kamen guesting. Michael had contributed so much to PF over the previous ten years, it’s great to have something of his playing on the recording.”
