Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Pts. 1-9, New Stereo Mix / Official Video)
Announced today via Pink Floyd’s social media channels, the new stereo mix of “Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Pts. 1–9)” will be released tomorrow—or today, depending on when you’re reading this—(Tuesday, November 18) as a single on all the usual streaming platforms, along with an official music video. This brings together, for the first time ever, the two halves of the song in a new mix by James Guthrie. This comes just under a month before the release of the Wish You Were Here 50th Anniversary editions, out on December 12, in which the track will be included. For information and ordering links for all of those editions, including the Deluxe Box Set, click [HERE].
The music video features actor and comedian Noel Fielding creating an original painting inspired by Syd Barrett, which you can watch below. After that, be sure to check out the interview with Noel, also available on Pink Floyd’s YouTube channel, where he talks about Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett, and Shine On You Crazy Diamond. The interview includes some fantastic shots of the band, including a striking photo of Roger Waters and Syd Barrett at Abbey Road during the recording of Wish You Were Here, as well as several remarkable paintings of the band by Noel.
