Naked Out Loud – Machan Taylor

Two years ago, we spoke with Pink Floyd backing vocalist Machan Taylor, who shared that she was working on her memoir. The book, now titled Naked Out Loud, will be published on December 3, 2025 by New Haven Publishing Ltd.
She sang with some of the biggest names in rock – now she tells the story behind the music. Her years of touring with Pink Floyd, Sting, and Pat Benatar brought private jets, bright lights, and the illusion of having “made it.” But behind the glamour, Machan Taylor was quietly unraveling and searching for the self she was yet to find. Naked Out Loud is a raw, soul-baring ride of unflinching honesty and luminous grace about fame, reinvention, and ultimately finding peace. It’s the story of a woman who turned heartbreak into healing – and learned that the greatest performance is living your own truth.
Machan Taylor is a lifelong artist whose four-decade career spans world tours, major recordings, and work as a creative mentor and educator. A singer, songwriter, and performer, she has collaborated with artists such as Pink Floyd, Sting, Pat Benatar, George Benson, and Gov’t Mule, led the Grammy-nominated group Hiroshima, and released a solo album that debuted at No. 35 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Charts. An NCVS Certified Vocologist with a master’s degree from New York University, she is a sought-after voice teacher, an adjunct professor at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute, and continues to create, teach, and inspire as both a performer and now as an author.
