John Edginton Interviews Pink Floyd Author Mark Blake
Being no stranger to conducting interviews, mostly with the band themselves, award-winning producer, writer and director, John Edginton, who helmed two much-loved Floyd documentaries The Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story and The Story of Wish You Were Here, has released an online video interview on his YouTube channel with Shine On author Mark Blake. Blake has been interviewing and writing about Pink Floyd for over 30 years. For his latest book, Shine On: The Definitive Oral History, he found a brilliant way to revisit the band’s story: “Let them all have their say. Let them all disagree and contradict each other, and I’ll weave the story together and put my own personal insights into it.”
In this 35-minute interview, they discuss how the book took shape, delving into the Syd Barrett era and some revealing letters to his girlfriend at the time, Jenny Spires, as well as Mark getting candid about the 2018 Animals re-release liner notes, which were the main reason for the delay in its release. The album eventually came out in September 2022.
It’s a fantastic interview, full of valuable information. We highly recommend you check it out here:
