Pink Floyd played their second free concert at Hyde Park, London, on 18 July 1970, following their first on 29 June 1968. The crowd swelled to an estimated 200,000, far beyond the 5,000 who had gathered two years earlier. Among those at the very front was John Baxter, who captured these remarkable photographs. We first published a version of them in May 2015, and several have since appeared on other sites and even in at least one book. The good news is we recently found the original images, which have now been fully overhauled and are presented here in a much larger, clearer format.

Since the original publication of these pictures, we’ve received countless requests for John’s email address, including from the BBC and Ron Geesin. Unfortunately, John has vanished without a trace!
