Nick Mason on Road To Success Podcast
Uploaded to YouTube on June 22, Nick Mason, our favorite drummer, appeared on the well-known UK-based show Road To Success Podcast with host Benedict Fowler. This van-based show lends itself to creating an intimate interview, and with Nick in fine spirits, the pair settle in for a relaxed 90-minute conversation covering Pink Floyd, of course, along with Syd Barrett, his impressive car collection, and plenty more. It all leads to some really great discussion and, of course, a few moments of humor.
Apologies for the late coverage on this one. Thanks to our friends over at Raving and Drooling for letting us know about it.
The description of the episode reads:
From the drum stool of one of the world’s most legendary rock bands to the driver’s seat of the most iconic Ferraris ever built, Nick Mason has lived a life defined by rhythm and speed. In this exclusive deep-dive conversation, the Pink Floyd co-founder opens up about the band’s meteoric rise, the heartbreaking reality of Syd Barrett’s departure, and his lifelong obsession with automotive excellence.
Nick shares the untold stories behind the making of Dark Side of the Moon and explains how a group of architecture students from the Regent Street Poly transformed into a global phenomenon. We also explore his world-class car collection, including the famous Ferrari Enzo that became a legendary part of Top Gear history and his prized 250 GTO. Beyond the music and the engines, Nick discusses his experiences with racing at Le Mans, his journey learning to fly helicopters to conquer his fears, and why he still prefers the analog feel of classic machines over modern technology.
