Merry Christmas From AFG

Well, 2025 is coming to a close. What a year it has been to be a Pink Floyd fan!
The first quarter of the year saw Roger Waters release a Super Deluxe Boxset of his Dark Side Of The Moon Redux, including a live album and various extras. April then brought Record Store Day releases featuring Roger’s live DSOTM Redux on limited pink vinyl, along with various mixes and a live version of David and Romany Gilmour’s Between Two Points from 2024. Last but not least, Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets’ recorded version of Echoes made its way onto limited edition vinyl, later released in Dolby Atmos on streaming services (have a look back to our review). The latter two even ended up in the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart.
Of course, April also saw the theatrical re-release of Pink Floyd at Pompeii MCMLXXII, newly transferred from its original 35mm film and featuring a fresh new soundtrack mixed by Steven Wilson. Physical editions followed at the beginning of May, with the album making its way to Number 1 in several countries. Pink Floyd’s first Number 1 of the year!
July and August brought the long-awaited release of Roger Waters’ This Is Not A Drill: Live from Prague concert film and album on all formats. That release also reached Number 1 on the UK Rock and Metal Albums Chart. We also had a chat with Roger’s longtime touring guitarist, Dave Kilminster, about the film and much more, which was great fun. You can revisit that here.
September saw the theatrical release of David Gilmour’s Live at the Circus Maximus concert film, filmed in Rome on the Luck and Strange tour in September 2024. This was followed by the album, titled The LUCK and STRANGE Concerts, compiled from recordings taken across the entire tour. The film and album were released on physical formats in October, with both making the Top 10 of their respective charts and the album peaking at Number 1 on the Album Downloads Chart.
Finally, December saw the release of Wish You Were Here 50. New physical editions of Pink Floyd’s landmark album were issued to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The recent Deluxe Box set featured a brand new Dolby Atmos mix from James Guthrie, clear vinyl pressings of the album, newly unreleased extra tracks, and a remastered and restored bootleg concert from the era by Steven Wilson, plus plenty of replica content. The album has just reached the UK’s Christmas Number 1 spot, as well as topping the Official Vinyl Album and Record Store charts. Two Number 1 albums in one year? Not too shabby!
As we mentioned, it has been quite the year to be a Pink Floyd fan, and we are confident that with Sony at the helm of the catalogue, more positive things are coming our way. As we wind down and get ready for Christmas, we want to thank each and every one of you who routinely tune into our news feed and trust us as your number one Pink Floyd news source, and who celebrate the band and their legacy with us. We truly could not do this without your support!
We also could not do it without the backing of various band associates who graciously endorse us, as well as the kind folks who donate to help keep the lights on around here and keep us running. We thank each and every one of you. We would also like to thank the various camps we remain in good standing with and wholly support. So thank you to Nick Mason and his Saucerful Of Secrets, David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Syd Barrett’s Estate, and Richard Wright’s Estate, all of whom we have great relationships with.
We hope each and every one of you has a lovely Christmas and the most joyous New Year ahead.
Set your controls for 2026!
