Nick Mason’s Open Garden Weekend Charity Event 2025

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 09/06/2025 by Tony R09/06/2025

Each year, Nick Mason and his wife, Annette, open the gardens of their historic country house near the A4 in Corsham, Bath, to the public to raise funds for the Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust and the Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance.

Guests can wander through the beautiful gardens and visit the menagerie of animals, as well as view a selection of Nick Mason’s classic and high-performance cars. There are also plenty of stalls to browse, offering a wide variety of items for sale, including jewellery, plants, candles, and art. Nick is even generous enough to sign items for fans.

After last year’s smashing success—drawing over 4,500 attendees and raising more than £40,000—this year was expected to break even more records. (We are currently awaiting the final numbers for this year, check back soon for all those details as we should have them shortly).

A remarkable 10,000 tickets have reportedly been sold, with thousands of people showing up across both days. The queue lines to meet Nick have seen guests waiting upwards of two hours, and he even continued signing in the rain during Saturday’s event (7 June).

We were fortunate to receive some photos and reflections from Mike Hendrixen who attended this years event at the Masons’ residence:

This weekend, Middlewick House, Nick Mason’s stunning countryside estate in Corsham, opened its gates to the public once again, and despite the steady English drizzle, the atmosphere was absolutely electric.

For any Pink Floyd fan, walking the grounds where the legendary drummer actually lives is surreal. From the lush gardens to the private rehearsal spaces and his jaw-dropping car collection, everything felt like a personal glimpse into the life of a rock icon.

What made the day even more special was the international crowd. Fans came from all over Europe… Spain, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic, and of course, us from the Netherlands. Everyone spoke different languages but shared one thing: pure admiration for Nick and his music.

Nick and his wife Annette were incredibly warm and welcoming, walking around the grounds and casually chatting with visitors. No security entourage, no barriers, just genuine hospitality. Nick took time to sign albums and merchandise (including my old Meddle CD), smiling and engaging with fans like an old friend.

Besides the impressive lineup of classic Ferraris, Aston Martins and a McLaren F1 GTR, there were also handmade cookies baked by Nick himself and jars of Middlewick honey made by his own bees.

For a moment, Middlewick House didn’t feel like a private estate, but like the heart of a community built on timeless music, shared memories and the kindness of the man who helped shape it all.

Unforgettable.

Our most heartfelt thanks go to Mike Hendrixen for sending these in, and to Nick and Annette for their generosity in opening their home to fans and friends alike for a worthy cause. NEW BOOK: Pink Floyd Shine On: The Definitive Oral History by Mark Blake

Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse Posted on 07/06/2025 by Tony R08/06/2025

Coming this October, The definitive oral history of Pink Floyd as told by friends, associates, family members and the band themselves through exclusive, never before published interviews.

Bestselling music author Mark Blake has been an associate and collaborator of Pink Floyd for over thirty years. Shine On takes on the behemoth task of capturing the most comprehensive history of the band ever compiled, drawing on huge amounts of new, archive and unpublished interview material with Gilmour, Waters, Mason and Wright. No other writer has interviewed the members of Pink Floyd as often nor as thoroughly, which is candidly apparent in this textured, gripping and consistently surprising biography. For the first time, the band’s story is told as an oral history with each chapter presented through the words of the band, their friends, contemporaries and supporting musicians. The accessible structure and high level of detail means that the narrative is both approachable to casual readers and magnetic to the committed.

Shine On is comprised of a significant amount of previously unpublished material, including a rare interview with Rosemary Breen lamenting that her younger brother Roger, aka Syd Barrett, should have never become a musician as well as exclusive new interviews with Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason and Guy Pratt, reflecting on their enduring legacy and rather more complicated recent twists and turns in the bands story.

Shine on is a forensic retelling of one of the most turbulent and enduring groups in rock music history, a complex history that only someone as skilled and insightful as Blake can navigate. This is set to be released on October 9th, 2025.
