This week brings you a roundup of news regarding Luck and Strange. We’re nearly two weeks away from the album’s release and promotion is in full swing! Yesterday, David Gilmour and Co. presented the album’s Dolby Atmos mix in a theater to friends and family – with David looking spiffy in a nice sport jacket introducing the playback with co-host Matt Everitt (of BBC Radio). Additionally, David is set to appear as a guest on an upcoming episode of The Rockonteurs with Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt, so stay tuned for that!
Lastly, there are updates regarding the deluxe box sets for ‘Luck and Strange.’ A very limited edition of the CD/Blu-ray and LP/Blu-ray deluxe sets, which looks to be sold out right now, includes a print featuring one of Anton Corbijn’s remarkable portraits of David. The non-print edition of the deluxe sets has experienced a price reduction, which should be reflected in the final amount charged to those who pre-ordered through Amazon, as they will automatically adjust to the lowest price available between the order date and the release date. – News thanks to our friend Matt over at Brain-Damage.

Out today, the third single from David Gilmour’s new album Luck and Strange, titled Dark and Velvet Nights, is a powerhouse of a tune!
Written by David Gilmour and Polly Samson, ‘Dark And Velvet Nights’ came from a poem Polly had written. David Gilmour ‘The music sprang out one day. It was so exciting to have come across this groove. Polly had given me a beautiful poem for our wedding anniversary, which was sitting on the desk right next to me, so I picked it up and sang it on the track, to hear what it would sound like with words. I played it to Polly, and she said, “Lovely, great, I’ll need to fiddle with it a bit. So she added a couple of verses, and there it was – very serendipitous.”
