Pink Floyd Wuz Ere (Part 2)

Pink Floyd Wuz Ere (Part 2)

LONDON

The infamous 'Roundhouse' at Chalk Farm in London. Floyd played here many times, starting with the historical UFO club in 1967 that moved here after 31 Tottenham Court Road closed down. A bit later, another Floyd hangout 'Middle Earth', closed it's doors in Covent Garden and also moved to The Roundhouse. Floyd also played many individual gigs here.

Another shot of The Roundhouse. You will note the brick staircase. When I used to go and watch the Floyd play here back in 1967, there was just a rickety old wooden staircase that used to wrap itself around part of the building. Only one person at a time could use the stairway, so if a fire had broken out the place would have been a deathtrap.

On UFO & Middle Earth nights, many a hippy would lie on the floor of the building gazing up into the recesses of the translucent ceiling. An amazing array of bands were usually on hand, who played through the night. As dawn approached you could see the light change, which was especially interesting to those who had partaken of LSD!

Site of the old Marquee Club in Wardour Street where Floyd played early gigs.

Britannia Row studios, still owned by Nick Mason. The albums Animals (1977) A Momentary Lapse Of Reason (1987) and The Division Bell (1994) were recorded here. It's also used to store many of the Floyd's balloons.

Taken at a Council Estate just behind Britannia Row studios, this is thought to be where the kids are walking single file towards the meat grinder in the movie 'The Wall'
